The Seduction of Jane Eyre
I just came across this video on You Tube and all I can say is --- whew!
I love this particular version of Jane Eyre that appeared on Masterpiece Theater a few years ago. I even bought the DVD but, good golly Miss Molly, this is AMAZING.
It's a cold, rainy and windy day here in Gloucester but that certainly warmed things up!!! And now I find it has a companion video, "The Temptation of Edward Rochester":
Thanks for watching!

Sweet merciful Jesus, I just came.
Best version of Jane Eyre by far is an old BBC series starring Timothy Dalton and Zelah Clarke. Sticks really closely to the book and uses lots of Charlotte Bronte's original dialogue. Only criticisms are that the leads are too good looking and the sets look a bit dated.
Worth looking out for

Nothing like the Victorians for longing.
Thanks for your comments. Elaine, I discovered that Netflix has the Jane Eyre you mentioned on their "Watch Instantly" side so I watched a few episodes last night (WHY are they only 25 minutes each?) and it is very true to the book --- which i probably read a dozen times when I was younger. However, Timothy Dalton is much, much, much too handsome --- oh well, I can put up with that.
He's such a fine actor but those dimples of his just kill me. I love the actress playing Jane because she is so tiny --- that's how I always imagined her. Thanks for the tip.
At one time, the BBC had a tradition of showing half hour episodes of classic series after Sunday tea. They ran around 6.30 in the evening and were a really lovely end to the weekend.
This was one of them, hence the short episodes.
Although Zelah Clarke was wonderful in the role, she never really did anything else whereas Rochester became James Bond.
Glad you liked it.

It's interesting to see how many interpretations of that story there are. The one I thought was most true to how I imagined Rochester was the one with Ciarin Hinds. But I love him in anything. I think his portrayal of Brian de Bois-Guilbert in "Ivanhoe" was just incredible.
Well, I just ordered "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" with Toby Stephenson. We'll see how he stacks up in that one!
This debate could go on for ever.
I didn't like Ciarin Hinds as Rochester but that was the adaptation rather than his performance. However, he was perfect with Amanda Root in Persuasion, another BBC film.
As for Wildfell, I liked Toby Stephens far better in that series than as Rochester in the latest Jane Eyre.
But then that's just my opinion!
